Trends and Challenges:The increasing number of
high speed broadband subscribers, coupled with more advanced services such as
IPTV is driving bandwidth requirements. This rapid increase in bandwidth is
driving the build out of the networking infrastructure such as routers,
switches, DSLAMs, and PONs OLTs, many of which have planned life-cycles of 10
years or greater.
Carriers need to provide mechanisms such as traffic
engineering for this networking infrastructure in order to provide the Quality
of Service (QoS) needed for a high quality user experience. Carriers also need
to provide a means to bill customers based on their network usage.
ISSI
provides both the performance required for this new high bandwidth
infrastructure build out along with the long-term support they require.
The ISSI Solution:ISSI offers a broad line of
x32-bit I/O configuration DRAM products that allow for the high data rates
required to address bandwidth-intensive applications such as IPTV.
For
traffic engineering and billing, high-performance, low latency SRAMs are
required to keep real-time counters and statistics on high speed
packets.
ISSI's leading edge Synchronous SRAM products such as our 72 Mb
QUAD Synchronous SRAM are ideal for implementing these counters and
statistics.
In order to meet QoS requirements on traffic such as video,
greater amounts of packet buffering is required to assist packet processing
functions. ISSI's complete line of low to medium density DRAMs using
leading-edge technology is ideal for these buffering requirements.
Additionally, these packet buffers require low latency pointers to build a high
speed queuing structure. Once again, ISSI's leading edge Synchronous SRAM
products are the ideal solution to this problem.
ISSI is committed to
providing long-term support on our complete line of low to medium density DRAMs
and our complete line of SRAMs. |
